Product Description
This handsome, hand-polished stainless-steel waiter's corkscrew is a compact, all-in-one tool for home entertaining that fits easily into a pocket. Folded, it measures a little more than 4 inches long, but it's plenty big and sturdy enough to pop wine corks and de-cap bottles. Unlike most wing-style corkscrews, this one also has a folding foil-cutter blade for prepping the bottle before opening. On the flip side, getting the hang of the lever action for pulling corks does take a little practice, but the result has its own rewards. Salute! --Dale SteinkeI have this corkscrew and it's a little flimsy. The rivets allow the worm to wiggle from side to side and it just doesn't have good fit and finish and isn't comfortable in the hand. If I were to buy another one I'd probably go with a model that has a nicer handle and a "two-step" feature to make it easier to pull the cork.
does what it's supposed to do. I've had it for a few years now. Still works just fine. No slippage, still sharp. I like it.
I love this corkscrew so much I just ordered a replacement because my last one disappeared...probably taken by the bartender I hired for my holiday party ;).
Seriously, I have had a metrokane rabbit, numerous knock-offs, the wing design and other waiter styles and this one is simply the best. The rabbits broke after one or two stubborn corks and the others would shred older corks or have pieces fall off, etc.
The beauty of this one is the simplicity of its design. The worm is just the right length so you don't go too far into the cork and end up with little bits of it in your wine. The open worm design (as opposed to the solid shaft design) also cleanly removes the entire cork (which is great in older wines) without breakage in one shot.
This corkscrew does require a little more effort to use when compared to a rabbit but its extremely sturdy and very nice looking. Most importantly, it has worked for me hundreds of times, if not a thousand... and it worked everytime, beautifully.
I am a winemaker and serious collector so I've used a lot of different corkscrews. They all have their pluses and minuses, but funny how I always come back to this one. Forget the $50, $100, or even $200 models and go with this one. Besides...the extra $100 you save could be spent on a nice Mondavi Reserve instead :)
This corkscrew is fine for home use, but doesn't work any better than a $2 srew. For restaurant use, the knife is dull, and the screw makes a mess of the cork. However, it does have a nice look.
I am a bartender who opens wine bottles all day long and was looking for a high quality corkscrew to do it in style. I got the style part down as this is well constructed and attractive to the eye, however, nearly every time the heavy gague of the screw will just crush the cork rather than going into it smoothly leaving a cracked cork and dust/bits in the bottle upon removal. I now just keep this around for show and will use my free/promotional corkscrew whenever I need one to actually do something functional. Do not recomend to anyone who wants to uncork a bottle with it.
