I have had it many months, opened dozens of bottles of wine and it is just the easiest to use, greatest opener that I have ever used. No strength or effort is required at all. Keeps even fragile corks perfect. Every house should have one of these. Doesn't take up any room either.


This is a great corkscrew and probably the easiest one I have ever used! This would clearly be a five star product if the design held the pieces together better in the drawer, in transit, etc. However, that is merely a convenience issue. The corkscrew works easily and is all I had hoped for in purchasing it.


We'd been given a screwpull as a gift and loved it. It's not the most high-tech looking gadget you've ever seen, but it is compact and works every time. In fact, people are shocked at how consistent it is, and with no cork debris in the bottle!!! We've now given a half dozen or so as gifts and folks are always asking where they can get another (for themselves or as gifts). The beat goes on....


We needed to replace our Metrokane corkscrew that cost in the $130s. I didn't think a corkscrew this inexpensive could be so effective. In fact, when I brought it out of the box, my husband said, "It feels cheap." It is plastic, but don't underestimate its effectiveness. It opens bottles with the greatest of ease. It is easy to use and work, and it is a compact corkscrew, taking up a fraction of the space in the drawer that my Metrokane did. I have opened a lot of bottles with this since getting it a few months ago, and I am STILL impressed. It even has a foil cutter built in on the side. No more expensive corkscrews for me! Get this, you will not be disappointed.


I bought this Corkscrew in Aug'08 from Amazon. One of my favorite things about Amazon is the ability for me to enter a generic product description (such as "corkscrew") and then sort by "best selling". Often times this has given me visibility to good products I had never heard of before. I believe the collective wisdom of a group is (usually) greater than that of an individual (I call it GroupThink, also note that Al Gore actually got more votes than GW Bush). Anyway I digress, that is how I found this corkscrew.

I've always been lousy with corkscrews. My past is riddled with broken corks, parts of corks floating in the bottle, and an angry wife giving me a hard time for being a lousy wine-bottle-opener-person and appearing to be incompetent (a top5 turnoff for her or so I'm told). So anyway, based on all the glowing reviews I did buy this corkscrew. And now, I am practically a Sommelier (at least the part where they open the wine but I still have an unrefined pallet). Since I have gotten this screwpull, I have had smooth cork extraction EVERY SINGLE TIME. Now I seem debonair, my wife is impressed, and my love life has improved. All because of this corkscrew. It's just one of those great products.

If I had to give any "cons":
-This thing does look somewhat plastic and cheap (so my wife said)... but it works great and hasn't broken.
-The other thing would be that I probably would get the "Table model" instead of the "Pocket model". The Pocket model has loose pieces that can get lost real easy (especially if you have little kids).

My Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 stars.

I first bought this wine bottle opener a number of years ago from a local store. It was all they had and it was more than I wanted to pay. After I used it once it became my favorite opener. It is simple to use, takes up little space, easily fits in your pocket, and removes a cork in just a few seconds with little effort. I recently bought 2 more as gifts. The original is still working great after many years or regular use. You won't be disappointed.


I absoulutely love this wine bottle opener! I own several other types of openers and I always reach for this one! (Even over the Rabbit, which I've had a couple of those break on me!) It is easy to use, great size for traveling and very affordable.


I am terrible at opening wine bottles as i seem to lack the skill that is required to use a traditional corkscrew, enter Screwpull Pocket Corkscrew! All one has to do is to turn clockwise and viola the cork is out without being damaged!! What a product! I'm very happy with it and will definitely recommend it to my friends and family!


I purchased the original version at the Museum of Modern Art in NY about 20 years ago and believe it really does deserve recognition as an exemplar of excellent design. I wanted to get a back up even though the original one is still pulling out corks as well as ever.

The current model differs in that the handle attaches at one end inside of in the middle. One might think that this would provide better torque, but added torque isn't needed because of the success of the overall design. Instead the offset handle creates more instability while turning it. On the other hand, the new version encloses the sharp point of the corkscrew better, which might be a benefit if one anticipates carrying it in a pocket.


My previous Screwpull pocket model lasted 10+ years and I'm so pleased to find one just the same. I really missed it when I bought something else.
